About St. Croix
Situated a thousand miles east of
Miami and only 18 degrees north of the equator is America's own
Caribbean paradise - the U.S. Virgin Islands. The U.S. Virgin
Islands belong to the Lesser Antilles chain, which divides the
Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean Sea. St. Croix is separated from
St. John and St. Thomas by an ocean trench that drops more than
12,000 feet to the sea floor. |

St. Croix is the largest of the 3 major U.S. Virgin
Islands. Three times larger than St. Thomas, its different terrains range
from arid lowlands and sheer rugged cliffs to mountains and a rain forest.
Year round air temperatures range from 76 degrees to 85 degrees. Since St.
Croix is part of the United States, the U.S. dollar is the official
currency. Electricity, credit cards and postal service are all
standardized to the U.S. mainland. Getting to the U.S. Virgin Islands is
easy via the several major airlines that service it, including American,
U.S. Airways and Delta. Passports are not required to enter St. Croix,
however, positive ID of some type is required to leave.
