3. Mitsubishi Mirage DE, $13, 805 (2015 prices)
Value? Yes, if you’re maybe not picky
Note: The Mirage is in limbo at present; Mitsubishi intends to miss the 2016 model 12 months and introduce a better version for 2017. At the same time, you should be able to find the 2015 Mirage described at dealers for a time much longer.
The Mirage a motor vehicle which takes this entire cheap-wheels thing seriously. The sub-$14k price includes A/C, energy windows and power locks, and also with all the current optional goodies (alloy rims, push-button ignition, and navigation), it is still $1, 500 less expensive than a comparably-equipped Nissan Versa.
But it is in addition cost effective to operate, with a little 3-cylinder engine that provides a reputable 40 MPG in day-to-day driving - and I would know, as we used one as us car for six months. The Mirage is included in an epic guarantee, with 5 years or 60, 000 miles of bumper-to-bumper protection and 10 years/100, 000 kilometers regarding the powertrain. On downside, the Mirage is loud, sluggish, and an unpleasant friend on long road trips, no a person who sees you driving one will mistake you for a lottery champion. It isn't an outstanding automobile, but for inexpensive motoring, the Mirage is difficult to defeat.
